Enriching the Field Work Course with the Chairman of APRI of the Yogyakarta Region

75 participants of the Islamic Family Law Department, Faculty of Sharia and Law, State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kaljaga Yogyakarta, attended the Field Work Course (PKL) briefing in the work area of the Office of Religious Affairs. This activity was carried out online through the zoom meeting application on Friday, March 4, 2022. Present on this occasion was Yasin Baidi, S.Ag., M.Ag. the head of the Department of Islamic Family Law. He at the same time opens the eventand provides a short welcoming speech to all participants. In his remarks, the head of the department said that this time the PKL was held at the KUA around Yogyakarta City, after previously being carried out in the KUA area of the participant's domicile. The 75 participants were divided into four groups. Each accompanied by two department lectures and two field supervisors. It is hoped that the PKL program will be able to provide additional scientific insight and experience while students study at KUA, Mr. Yasin added.

The event was followed by a material delivery session moderated by Muhammad Jihadul Hayat, S.H.I., M.H., a junior lecturer in the department. Mr. Ghufron Su'udi, S.Agwas the person who spoke and provided the material. He is the chairman of the Yogyakarta region of the Association of Penghulu Republik Indonesia (APRI) as well as the head of the Religious Affairs of Tegalrejo District. Despite being online, the event and discussion were very interesting, with the participants showing great interest in carefully following through on questions asked directly or via chat zoom.

As the Head of KUA, he conveyed many important points as an introduction for participants before going into practice at KUA:
According to Minister of Religion Regulation 34 of 2016, the main duties and functions of the KUA are approximately 9–10 items, of which the implementation, supervision, recording, and reporting of marriages are carried out. As a result, KUA is on the front lines of solving and responding to public problems.

The Minister of Religion's KUA revitalization program is the answer to the fact that KUA is a problem-solving organization in the midst of dynamic technical issues that arise in the community. The KUA system is currently the 'integration' of all recording and administration systems, borrowing the term from State Islamic Sunan Kalijaga. As a result, all data and work systems are integrated and interconnected.
Finally, it is a message to all PKL participants that the KUA, in this case the penghulu, must learn and be proficient in non-administrative skills such as communication, emotion, public speaking, and leadership in addition to administrative matters.

At the conclusion of the event, the Zoom moderator encouraged participants to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn everything there is to know about KUA, from marriage registration to zakat, waqf, hajj, mosques, and UPZ, so that once you have jumped into the community, you can take experiences and put them into practice.
